Paint It Out
So you have finally decided to actually hire a painting service to paint the exterior of your home. If you are totally not quite sure what to expect, read the following to get some basic information on the process.
What happens before the painting starts
On the day of the painting, a team of painters will arrive and begin unloading their supplies. They will then secure everything and prepare the walls for painting. It is at this time the protective coverings are removed from the sidings, windows, and doors. The painting will then begin, first the ceiling and then the walls. Depending on how many painters you have and how big the house is, takes around 2 to 4 days. This is merely a rough guide as there are a lot of variables involved.
What to expect?
Painting is not a quick process. As a general guide, a large house will take around 3-5 days to complete. On large jobs, the painters will have to work in teams of 2. They will work on one part of the house at a time. On the first day, you can expect your painter to cover up what is on the walls, this could be painting, wallpaper, or any number of things. This is to make sure that the surface is ready for the new coat of paint.
What to do during the painting stage
It is not advisable to leave the house empty for days on end, especially if you have young children. If you have an emergency you could start to feel more vulnerable, however, you will need to make sure your home is secure to enter even if the painters are working outside of the house.
